BARNSTEAD INN

Set in a 19th-century New England carriage house offering views of the Green Mountain, this cozy inn is 2 miles from Downtown Manchester and 3 miles from Hildene, a Georgian Revival mansion. 

Homey, individually decorated rooms have private bathrooms, original wooden beams and air-conditioning, plus free Wi-Fi, cable TV and coffeemakers. Some include fireplaces, antiques, fridges or microwaves.

Parking is free. There's an outdoor heated pool, and a garden with fire pits and barbecue grills, plus a front porch with rocking chairs and wicker furniture.

THE MANCHESTER VIEW

This family-run hotel is 4 miles from the Southern Vermont Art Center and 6 miles from Bromley Mountain Ski Resort.

On 16 acres amid the Green Mountains, this unpretentious resort is 7 miles from skiing at Bromley Mountain and 8 miles from Emerald Lake State Park.

Set on a 30-acre hillside country estate featuring Tudor or modernist architecture, this refined inn is 2 miles from golfing at Ekwanok Country Club and 9 miles from Equinox Mountain. 

The 11 stately rooms feature mountain or garden views, antiques, cable TV and free Wi-Fi; some add fireplaces, private decks, whirlpool tubs and 4-poster beds.

Freebies include parking, coffee, tea and afternoon snacks (seasonal). Hot breakfast is offered in a cozy dining room or on a veranda. There's a bright restaurant, a bakery and a farm. There's also a tennis court, an outdoor pool, a sculpture garden and a museum of creativity.

THE STAMFORD MOTEL & RESTAURANT

Set in the Green Mountains on 5 acres of land, this low-key motel has nearby access to hiking trails, and is 8 miles from Bromley Mountain Ski Resort 

The simply decorated rooms with en suite bathrooms offer cable TV and in-room coffee. Some have fridges, while 3 add microwaves.

There's an on-site steakhouse and cafe serving locally sourced food, some from the motel's private vegetable/herb garden. The pool is open seasonally.

Dating from the late 1800s, this elegant, family-run hotel spread across 2 buildings in sprawling grounds is a 9-minute walk from the Golf Club at Equinox and 2 miles from the historic Hildene mansion.

This quaint motel is 2 miles from downtown Manchester, and 8 miles from both Bromley Ski Resort and Emerald Lake State Park.

Housed in a 1764 property, this stately, antiques-filled B&B is 1.6 miles from Manchester Village Historic District.
